Plumbing in Marietta, GA FAQs

What should I do in a plumbing emergency in Marietta, GA?

In a plumbing emergency in Marietta, GA, first, shut off the main water supply to prevent further flooding or damage. Locate the main shut-off valve, typically found near the water meter or where the main water line enters the house. If the issue involves a specific fixture, turn off the valve closest to that fixture. Next, turn off the water heater to prevent damage. Quickly assess the problem and, if necessary, use temporary measures like pipe clamps or plumber's tape to minimize leakage. Contact a local emergency plumber immediately for professional assistance to resolve the issue promptly.

Call for high water bill.

Arrived and met with Ms. Shirley and her Daughter.

They got a notice from the water company and the water service provided indicated they have a leak on their side. Ms. Shirley mentioned that the bill has been about $200 most months. Her husband has memory health troubles and sometimes leaves the faucets on.

We performed an evaluation of the home and found the following.

Grey polybutylene pipes throughout home. No inside shut off able to be located. Water meter is spinning. No signs of leak in yard. No floors or moisture found anywhere on floor or floorboards.

I discussed how to move forward and recommended two courses of action.

First, repiping home and replacing lines. This would also require replacing water main, as branch location is unknown.

Second, contacting national leak detection and attempting a spot repair. Spot repairs offer no warranty due to polybutylene piping. Estimate can be provided once leak location is known.

Also noted a leaking

Call for slow shower drain.

I arrived and discussed concerns with Mr. And Mrs. Singh. They stated that we have been out before to clear the master shower drain (approximately two years ago). Shower was remodeled nearly five years ago.

I inspected and what a grout like substance occluding nearly the whole drain. Substance was grotty and sandy, but had some plastic feeling tubular pieces as well. I was not able to identify the issue. I contacted a general contractor to advise us on possible grout or tile issues that could cause this, and they advised that grout color cover layer may be slowly piecing. But that no other possible scenarios came to mind.

I discussed concerns and possible solutions with Mr. Singh. I stated that we could attempt to chip it off as best as possible and vacuum the bits out, if that didn’t work we would have to remove and reinstall p trap.

We were successful in removing most of the blockage, with residual grit clinging to walls but not effecting draining.
